Click here to register. From there, you will be prompted to fill out a brief profile of your business. We will review your account, and subject to approval, you can begin buying and selling local food.

We personally verify the buyers and sellers that we work with to ensure the highest quality.

Which buyers use Food Orbit?

Some of the top chefs in the country... As we start out, we are focusing on servicing restaurants in the Sydney area and working solely in NSW to align with our base of sellers. As we grow, more and more wholesale buyers across multiple areas will be able to create an account, search, connect and buy directly. This will include chefs, cafe and restaurant owners, caterers, hotels, schools, hospitals, corporate kitchens, retail stores and more.

Which sellers use Food Orbit?

The farmers and producers that we use on Food Orbit are mostly small to medium-sized family farms or artisans. We work with some greatsellers who use responsible and sustainable methods to grow crops, raise livestock, and produce value-added products. Both certified and non-certified organic farmers and producers use Food Orbit. We have an invitation only policy to ensure and maintain these high standards.

How do you define local?

This is a tricky one and everyone has a different definition. We would like to class 'local' as anywhere within 300 miles of your location, but understand that sometimes certain ingredients are impossible to source within that distance, so we define local as being as close to you as possible for that ingredient.

Who can sell through Food Orbit?

Any farmer or producer that grows or raises its own products in a responsible way. You will not find caged hens eggs or battery farmed chickens on this site.

Buyer criteria?

If you are a genuine wholesale buyer, you need to be able to reach the relatively low minimum order quantities or values defined by each seller and pay for orders by credit card or bank transfer (coming soon).

Seller criteria?

If you are a seller, you need to be able to either ship or deliver your items directly to the customer, or have their order ready for pick-up at a local farmers' market. You'll be able to choose which days you deliver or ship to particular regions and specify how much advance notice you need to fill the order. It is also important you have regular access to the internet so you can check and confirm your orders frequently. You will be notified by e-mail, through your own dashboard management screen and via SMS when an order has been placed for your products.

How much does it cost to sign-up?

Believe it or not, there is no sign-up fee or subscription fee. Instead, we charge a small transaction fee per order. This means that if you don't make money, we don't make money.

Is there a minimum order requirement?

The minimum order value or quantity, if any, is set by each individual farm and will vary accordingly.

How do I know which farm to use?

We have purposely integrated a fully transparent food system which allows you to see which chefs buy from which farmers and producers. We have also integrated a full feedback and favouriting system that allows you to see relationships people have all online. We encourage farmers and producers to have sample boxes that can be bought at a small cost to encourage new buyers onboard.
